September 16, 2026 – Education Meeting
Mysterious and Maniacal
Our first Education Meeting will be an outdoor shoot with light painting and spooky props held at Lynda’s large property near Murphy. There will be a collection of “stations” for shooting some scary scenes, or you can choose your own dark corner to play.
**Members with light-painting skills (you know who you are), please consider sharing some of your expertise this evening if you’d like to. Contact Susan. Or perhaps you have a favorite scary outfit (or white sheet!) you’d like to model for the rest of the group.
Bring your creativity, tripods, and headlamps, and wear sturdy shoes. We will start right on time so we can explore Lynda’s yard and the setups, hopefully before it gets too dark. Treats will be had too!

November 18, 2026 – Education Meeting
Subject: Exploring In Camera Movement (ICM) – with your Phone or Camera
The first part of the evening is hands-on using our phones** and cameras to explore some ICM techniques in and around the church. The second part of the evening, Larry will share some editing techniques he finds useful in Photoshop to make the images shine.
**Please have some type of slow shutter app installed on your phone – I love SLOW SHUTTER or AVG. CAM PRO if you want to explore that. Familiarize yourself with the settings beforehand. Or bring your camera and some ND filters if you have them. We can always step outside too.

May 19, 2027 – Education Meeting
Subject: Themed Project
This is an optional exercise and opportunity.
The idea is simple: choose a theme for a project and create a series of images that reflect the theme. Images should create a cohesive set.
How many images? That is up to you. You can do them within a set time frame or over the entire club season. You can start now, or anytime during the club season. At the end of the year, you will share your images in a slideshow, movie, or simply click through them. Each presentation shouldn’t be more than 5 minutes. You could also show your work as prints.
You can work solo or team up with someone for a project. Choose something that will challenge you, help you learn a new skill, create a community-minded project, or use a group of your photos from a trip or outing in some creative way.
We will do an Education night on How to Make a Slide Show to help you pull it together if needed.
No scores, no judges. Just have fun and use your photos in a themed manner.
You might even consider this an ongoing project for however long you like.
