Meetings

Meetings are held on the first and third Wednesdays from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM in the Newman Methodist Church (downstairs) at: 132 NE B Street,  Grants Pass, OR 97526. Enter by the covered ramp to the lower level of the building from the parking lot on the corner of  7th and B Streets.

We meet from September through May.

Visitors are always welcome at all of our meetings. :0)

First Wednesday:  This meeting is for sharing projected images for discussion, critique, or just for fun. We will also showcase Assigned Subjects each month.  Every Quarter we will have a scored competition judged by another photography club.  For the monthly themes, see the list below.

Third Wednesday:  Education and sharing photography knowledge.

MONTHLY ASSIGNMENTS FOR 2026-2027

Members can participate in our monthly Assigned and/or Open Digital Image Categories. We also share prints. Watch for the Member’s Emails for details on when and how to participate.

-SEPTEMBER: Eyes. Humans, birds, bugs, potatoes – your choice.

-OCTOBER: Mysterious, Macabre, Maniacal! It’s that time – get
ghostly & ghastly, and have some fun with this one.

-NOVEMBER (Judged): Golden Hour. Get outside for sunrise or sunset and share
your favorite images.

-DECEMBER: ICM. (Intentional Camera Movement) Between
Summer, Fall, and Christmas lights, it’s a perfect time for this.

-JANUARY: Reflections. Mirrors, puddles, glass, water, chrome, etc.

-FEBRUARY (Judged): Frame it. “A composition technique where the photographer
uses elements in the scene to surround or enclose the main subject, creating a natural
frame inside the photograph.” (definition from ChatGPT)

-MARCH: Water. Rain, rivers, reservoirs, waterfalls, the ocean, a
puddle,

APRIL: Straight out of the camera. Only denoise is
allowed. Going old-school this month, as if we were using film and not doing our own
processing in a darkroom. (“But first, take a good picture.” Elliot Erwitt)

-MAY (Judged): Low key. “A low-key photo is an image that
is intentionally dark overall, with most tones in the shadows and only small areas of
light highlighting the subject.” (definition from ChatGPT).
