This photograph was taken in the fall, after the sunflowers in my garden had lost their colorful petals but were full of seeds. The image was composed on my deck, in late afternoon using a black fabric background and natural light. The petals surrounding the seed heads were from calendula flowers that complemented the golden notes in the sunflower centers. The image was shot with a Canon 7D, 50 mm lens at ISO 400, f8, 1/125 seconds.
I have been a member of Wild Rivers Photography Club for over 15 years and have enjoyed pushing myself creatively with the support, helpful critiques, and educational programs offered through the club.
