Doris says of her winning image; Light Up The Sky was taken during the La Pine, OR fireworks display. A Nikon D600 with a 24-70 lens was used with camera settings on bulb, f/16, ISO 100.
Photography has been my hobby for many years. My photography skills developed through reading camera and lens manuals, books on photography, and blogs on the internet. I own a variety of cameras and seldom leave home without one.
My husband, Kenneth, and I share an interest in photography. Two years ago, we became members of the Caveman Camera Club. Our goal was to meet people with similar interests and improve our camera skills.

Photo was taken on August 27th in Crescent City at about 11:00 with a Canon EOS Rebel T2I with a 10-22 mm lens. Setting were F/11, ISO 100, exposure of 1/100th and bracketed -2,+2. Images were processed using Photomatix HDR software and tonemaped with same. Final adjustments were done using Picasa.
I had been reading up on HDR and wanted to try my hand at it because I began to realize I may be able to get more detail using bracketed sets, especially in the redwoods. The sky looked promising so I loaded up and made a beeline to the coast. The photo itself was taken about 50 yards out onto the jetty. The tide was out, exposing more rocks in the foreground, and the sky had some interesting feathery clouds also. All the elements were in place, all I had to do was capture it.
