Patty’s Comments:  “I took this photograph in my back yard with a Nikon D3 using a 105 mm F2.8 macro lens at F10 SS 1/100.  I’ve been involved with photography since the early nineties. Taking shots at jujitsu tournaments, family portraits, wildlife, travel and even a couple of weddings. Currently I take mostly scenic, wildlife and macros. The secret to shooting macro is patience, a steady tripod, and in this case, a very co-operative dragonfly!”

“My husband and I joined Caveman Camera Club over a year ago to keep us busy in retirement and to meet people since we are new to the area. The other members are wonderful….always willing to help with camera or post processing questions and organizing field trips. We are definitely keeping busy and making new friends.”

05A1_PattyBooth_CAVE_KissMe“Kiss Me”       Patty Booth

Patty’s Comment: “I took this photograph with a Nikon D3 using a 80/200mm f/2.8 lens, with an exposure of 1/500 at f/8.0 and ISO of 250 at 1:40 PM.  This was taken on one of the club’s planned field trips to Crescent City.  The seals were on the sidewalk and seemed to enjoy being models for all of us budding wildlife photographers! These 2 caught my eye because they were so affectionate toward one another and “posed” for many shots…..like an engagement photo shoot!  I enjoy all the field trips that the club organizes……..especially the adventures to the beach. The club members are always there with advice, encouragement and “pats on the back” when you finally get a decent shot.”

Patty says: I took this while on vacation with a Nikon D3 using a 80/200mm f/2.8 lens, with an exposure of 1/200 at f/2.8 and ISO of 200 at 4:42 AM.  I saw the adult pelican first and was excited there was a baby but didn’t realize until looking at it on my computer monitor how much it resembled a prehistoric bird.  I love when a photo surprises me.”

Jim says: ‘The Look’.  “Taken with a Nikon D700 and a 70-200mm lens at 200mm. ISO 800 and F8 at 1/250th of a second, handheld. Taken near the Chart Room Restaurant in Crescent City, mid morning with cloudy skies. This particular seal seemed to be relaxing while keeping an eye on me as well.”

Tony says:   The image was taken in my home studio using my daughter Ashley as my model.  I used two alien bee strobe lights for the lighting, one used as a hair light and the other with a 20% grid on it. I used this image for an assignment at school and had to change it to black and white.  I shot this image using my Nikon D610 with a 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 lens. I had a focal length of 85mm, exposure of 0.3sec, f/4.5, ISO 200.
