“This photo was made for the Club’s December assigned subject of “Inner Child”. The image of the hoodie was taken at home with my Nikon camera, using one flash from above. This image was combined with a photo that I had taken with my cellular phone of a child’s doll. The dolls face was placed inside of the hoodie using Adobe Photoshop to complete the image”.

“This was taken in my backyard when we lived in Redmond, WA with a Nikon D3 at 1/100 sec. at ISO 250 using 80-200mm lens at 200mm. I was comfortably seated in a hunting blind that Ned had given me for just this purpose. It has proven to be a necessary item for backyard bird watching in snow, rain, or sun!”

For the concept of “My Inner Child” I wanted to covey the adventure of outdoor camping in the relative comfort and safety of home. I fabricated a simple frame of wood dowel and 1 x 2 wood trim. I set up three remotes on my camera; one for the diffused strobe inside the tent, one for the studio strobe to light the room, and a electronic shutter release with the transmitter concealed in the fold of the book. I used a Coleman LED camp light ahead of me to illuminate the foreground, and I held a small penlight in the fold of the book for a little reflected light onto my face. My camera settings were; 32 mm focal length, f/8 aperture, 1/30th of a second, and 1600 ISO.

Taken with a Nikon D700 and 28-70mm lens at 31mm. ISO 400. The model is local dancer Alicia Avalos. She is in the middle of a leap with the sheer material draped around her. Backdrop is black cloth. There were three studio lights used. Two were placed on either side of the subject and slightly behind for a rim lighting effect. The third was just behind the photographer and to the left 45 degrees for a front fill light at about half the power of the rim lights.
