“Am I My Work?” Michael Williams
Explaining the Self-portrait: I wanted to explore the idea of who and what I am. As I grow older and look back at more than 40 years of making images, that question seems to be more than idle thought.
This image is one single shot of my face; the left one layered with a photo of Ama Dablam, an Iconic Himalayan Peak. The right one is layered with one of the textured abstract images I use to explore the human form. These are the 2 general groups of my work. The middle face is not filled – the story not yet lived or photographed. After time I will see what the answer might be to my question and maybe the Rogue Valley will help with that as well. Photo shot with Canon G12, 60th Sec. at F11. More information is available on the “Home Page”.

“Reflections of Me” Pam Arbogast
Pam’s Comments: Reflections of me. I was inspired to create this image based on a previous image I’d taken on the beach in Bandon, when I used a macro lens to take images of irridescent sea foam washing up at the edge of the waves. I was working without a tripod, and having to regularly escape approaching waves, and the resulting image was grainy, but surprised me by reflecting multiple tiny reflections of me aiming my camera into the foamy bubbles. With this current image I hoped to have a little more control over the elements by creating my own bubbles and not having to run from the waves. I grabbed a few leaves from a nearby bush to add some color, and also to represent my interest in the outdoors. The bubbles and leaves were arranged (well sort of…) on a mirror placed on the ground. I really enjoyed the challenge of balancing control with unexpected surprises with this assignment. Canon 7D f4.5 1/90 with a focal length of 34.

“Framed in Gold” Suzi Pratt
The photo was taken for the assigned subject; Self Portrait in November of this year. I had seen another photo using a frame and remembered I had several frames that maybe I could use. I came up with dressing all in black so you would only see the face, but then, how to disguise myself so you couldn’t readily see it was me??? Face paint, mask and an hour later, viola! Set up was using natural light from the window, some with flash, a black curtain over the door, my tripod and countless hours. I used a Canon EOS 60D and the setting were F4.5, 1/60 Sec, ISO 400. Elements 10 was used for cropping and to do some smoothing and touch up.

“Nostalgia” Tony Mitchell
Shot in a home studio with one soft box, one backlight and one piece of foam core as a reflector. Shot with a Nikon D7100 with a 24-85mm lens at 38mm. F/4.2 at 1/10sec and ISO 200.
This was a shot that I had envisioned for some time and through taking classes at AAU I finally achieved the image I was wanting. I then put it into Photoshop and changed it from color to black and white, added a few color filters and then topped it off with adding a grain filter for vintage feel.

“The King’s Bedchamber” Dale George
The Kings Bed Chamber was taken in October of this year while we vacationed in Paris. Photo was shot at the Palace of Versailles about an hour by rail from Paris. Shooting here proved to be a real challenge as there were so many people in each room…all wanting to take photos as well. Higher ISO was a must as the rooms were fairly dim and curtains mostly drawn to save the fabrics. Also, no tripods are allowed and no flash which adds to the challenge. Photo was edited entirely with Onone 8.0 software. ISO 1600, no flash, F/5, .5 second exposure
