I Like Sun Stars     Dave Church

“This photo was taken as the sun was rising over the Applegate River at my home.  It was shot on April 13th, when I was scouting around for some images to submit to the Club “Wide-Angle” competition coming up the following week.  I have always like sunstars, and I thought this turned out pretty good. The original shot was taken with my Canon 6D using a 16-35mm lens. The camera settings were 1/80 sec, f16, ISO 250, 16mm.  It was processed in Lightroom.  I’m a big fan of the Clarity, Dehaze, and Vibrance tools, and I also played around with the HSL colors section”.

Tube City    Jim Ingraham

‘Tube City’ Technical data:  Nikon D700 with Sigma 14-24 mm lens at 14 mm. ISO 400 and f14 at 1/500th second. This image was taken at 17th and Lawrence in downtown Denver on a warm winter day this last Christmas. Shooting straight into the sun. I had to lay on my back to get the sculpture to frame the skyscrapers. I believe it was a Sunday so I didn’t get too many weird stares from people.

The White Walkers Are Coming    Rose Christner

“This was shot on 11/18/18 at Dale Georges studio. A few of us came to play with Dales dolls…as he so graciously set them up, provided lighting as well as smoke. It was a first for me and I had a lot of fun shooting. This image was one of hundreds I took that day at 1/8 sec, F5.6, 27mm, ISO 500 with my Canon EOS 80D on a tripod. To all of us there, it was about the lighting and moving them and shooting thru the smoke. Very fun and cool way to learn how to make the shot! Thanks again Dale!
This was named after the “Game Of Thrones” series that is so popular right now. “The White Walkers Are Coming”.”

Contemplating The Bottom    Susan Sheets

I visit this waterfall often in the Willamette National Forest. Last July was the lowest I have ever seen it.  I enjoyed finding someone’s rock cairn on this visit while I contemplated the falls and captured some images of this place that is special to me.  Shot at 15mm, f8, ISO 640, 1/8sec.

Peaceful Summer Sunset    Nomeca Hartwell

Quarter moon, stars coming out and a setting sun.. picture perfect for me

Umpqua Gem    Ross Steensland

This photo was taken over Cow Creek just West of Riddle Oregon as it enters the canyon on March 16th. I was there to explore the area and was not expecting much of a sunset since it was fairly overcast, but a pink glow lit up the West end of the canyon.
Canon 6D mkII, Canon 24-70mm f2.8, B+W CPL.
Foreground- 30 sec, iso 50, f14, 25mm
Sky- bracketed at 2.5 sec, iso 50, f14, 25mm

Golden Snow    Ross Steensland

This photo was taken on the top of Boomer Hill road just North of Myrtle Creek on Feb 21st.  I drove up with the intention of taking some portrait photos of Beth, but found the snow to be too deep and bitter cold. Seeing signs of a good sunset and finding a beautiful snowy field with snow capped trees, I knew I needed to wait for sunset there.
Canon 6D mkII, Canon 24-70mm f2.8, B+W CPL.  Image bracketed.
30 sec, iso 160, f11, 24mm

Electric Bridge   Nomeca Hartwell

My lucky stars must have been active when I was driving back home around midnight one night from scouting the river. I passed this pulled over vehicle on the Indian Mary side where it looked like they were changing a tire or something and realized as I crossed Hellgate bridge that it might be worth turning left instead of right at the end of the bridge. Sure enough, the bridge was lit up beautifully by their headlights. I was able to get off a few shots before they departed and voila.

Coffee Break   Susan Sheets

This is from my old neighborhood in Portland. I love that everything in this image is black and white except for her beautiful skin and the coffee.

The Canoe    Jim Ingraham

This image was taken at Lake Lemolo in Oregon last June. It was shot just before sunrise. I was attracted to the stillness of the scene and the way the warm tone of the boat stood out against the blues and greens of the background. The technical details: Shot with a Nikon D850 and Sigma 24-105 lens at 48mm. F16 at 1/30th second and ISO 800, tripod mounted.”

Here’s Looking At You   Greg Smith

This shot was taken in the Monterey area in March of 2016  We came upon this handsome subject sunning on the rocks at the Asilomar State Marine Reserve.  I took numerous shots of my patient model and liked this pose the best.  With my older Photoshot Elements software I was unable to manage the highlights of the ocean.  With the transition to Lightroom editing software I was able to apply a gradient mask to the water area and bring the ocean back into a nice balance with the foreground.  The shot was taken using my Canon 5d, Mk III and 70-200mm telephoto lens.  My settings were:  200mm, f/2.8, ISO 400, and 1/4000th of a second.
