My photo,”Ballet Noir” was taken at Heartland Dance Studio’s dress rehearsal for “Pinocchio”. The photo was shot at 1/250 f4.0 ISO 6400 at 53mm with a 16-70 Zeiss lens on a Sony a6500 camera. It was converted into black and white in Lightroom. I have long been a fan of classic black and white movies and film photography, and this seemed like a great image to convert. I used a preset with a slight sepia tinge to warm up the image.

This photo was taken on the beach in Mendocino this June. I light painted this large structure with a small flashlight a total of 29 different times to get this one image. It is a single shot. That was a lot of running back and forth in the sand to open and close the shutter. It was a beautiful evening in every way and well worth the effort.
