May Competition Images – Early submission Required – Deadline Sunday April 16th

This is the call for photographs for the May meeting of The Wild Rivers Photography Club.  It is earlier than normal, because the photos will be judged by members of the Photographic Society of America (PSA), and they need some additional time.  As usual, we will meet at The Newman United Methodist Church, 132 NE B Street, Grants Pass, OR 97526 on May 3, at 7:00 pm.

As your projectionist, I am responsible for collecting the electronic photos you submit, and putting them together as a slide show for the competition.  I hope many members decide to participate.  We are looking forward to this opportunity to continue honing our photographic skills.

Education Night is Wed. April 19th

As we looked through the ‘”Idea Jar” more than a couple suggestions about using flash came up so we decided we will do another round. Squeaky wheels get the grease.

This round we’ll concentrate on simple scenarios for using fill flash, on and off camera.  There are many ways to use fill flash to improve your photos.  We’ll have time to play during the second half so bring your flash to experiment.  Don’t forget to charge your batteries.  The concepts and the thinking will be helpful even if you don’t have a flash. Maybe you’ll think about getting one..?   Photographers are always talking about light – this will give you some ideas about how to enhance what’s there with your flash and how to use it creatively.    Yours in Ed, Susan and Larry

Raindrops On Holly by Jim Ingraham

This image was taken with a Nikon D850. The exposure data was f8 at 1/125th second at ISO 1600 and the lens was at 70 mm. Taken on a wet and cloudy spring day in an alley in downtown Grants Pass. Although the light can seem flat on a cloudy day, certain subjects (like rain and shiny surfaces) reflect the white sky in a beautiful way.

Congratulations Jim on a beautiful image. Look for Jim’s photo in the Daily Courier soon.
