Those who attend the WRPC light painting education night will be in for a ton-O-fun and a opportunity to capture some unique images. Who knows,…you may get bitten by the light painting bug yourself. Helpful suggestions I offer are… #1). PLEASE get acquainted with using bulb mode on your particular camera prior to attending. Practice setting different lengths of exposure time “on the fly” as this is difficult to learn in the dark and fumbling with the menu in real time. #2). Bring a shutter release cable if you own one, but it is not entirely necessary if you learn bulb mode. #3). Bring your tripod, this one is a no-brainer…and maybe bring a small flashlight, just in case.
When I do light painting at home, solo, knowing how to change my ISO and f/stop quickly and without turning on lights is very helpful. Lastly, have fun. The last time we did this members had a great time and went home with some unique images to practice editing on. You won’t want to miss this opportunity!! See you there…… Dale.
Can’t wait! ****We will have two groups so there will time to try various light painting tools and scenarios. There is pavement to put tripods on. The exact location is Reinhart All Sports Park near the small Park house on the River Vista side of the park (the backside of the little duck pond). We can gather under the pergola there. Parking is a bit before and after the pergola. Here’s a map. Try to be on time and don’t forget the essentials Dale listed above.
We will meet at The Newman United Methodist Church, 132 NE B Street, Grants Pass, 97526 on September 7 at 7:00 pm

Hi everyone, The Heartland Dance Studio is having their annual dress rehearsal on Wednesday 6/22 at 7 pm. This years performance is “The Brave Tin Soldier”. We are invited to photograph the performance. The Rogue Digital Arts photo club is invited as well. Those of you that have previous experience know what to do. (main thing-no flash). If you want to come and haven’t attended before, call me 541-471-1509 or show up early (between 6:30 and 6:45 for a quick briefing). It’s always fun. Come out and challenge yourself photographically. Jim Ingraham
This is a two part Challenge. 1. Use a fixed focal length of 50mm and 2. Tell a story with six pictures. You can use your images to describe a particular object, concept or idea – anything that strikes you. There is one caveat, get ready for it, you can only take 12 pictures total.
Take 12 pictures and pick your six best to tell your story. We will share them on Facebook. You can take as long or as short as you’d like that evening to shoot.
Details: Take note! 6 PM instead of 7 PM
Meet at the Haul Restaurant outside: 121 SW H St, Grants Pass, OR 97526
If you can’t make it at 6pm still come downtown and find the wandering photographers and/or start your shooting.
If you don’t have a dedicated 50 mm lens, also known as a prime, bring your zoom that covers that range and we will help you set it to use only 50 mm.
If you shoot a crop sensor bring the lens that will be a 50 mm equivalent.
For example: On my 4/3 sensor a 25mm lens = 50mm on a full frame camera. On an APSc, Crop Sensor, 35mm is approximately = to 50mm. This will be different for different cameras. If you don’t know please email us and we will help guide you.
Just a few ideas to get your juices flowing. You can shoot objects of any kind. You could shoot only people of any kind. Perhaps architectural details, or things that move, or maybe things that are all one color. You get the idea. It’s wide open.
Feel free to buddy up, or help someone who might want some help or even consider shooting a story with someone else. You still only get to pick six final shots if you shoot with someone else. 🙂
Where to find Larry and Susan? We will station ourselves at the Haul (probably inside after we get underway), please find us if you have questions or join us afterwards for some food or drinks and sharing.
It will be a nice way to celebrate our last meeting of the year.
And don’t forget the year-end potluck on June 8.! At Tom Pierce Park. Check your email and the website for all those details soon!
