Ain’t No Cure For The Summertime Shoes by Larry Pollock
Larry writes about his image: Working in the studio, I used two lights, one for the rim light and one with a reflector and grid to focus the light. I had several concepts for this image, settling on this version. I was standing in my sandals and reaching out to click the shutter set to a 10-second delay
Lisa writes about her image: My image, Cottagecore Girl, was taken at the historical Hanley Farm in Medford, at a portrait slam event in September of 2021. Cottagecore is an aesthetic inspired by a romanticized interpretation of western agricultural life. I regularly attend portrait slam events because I have a passion for editorial portraits and fashion photography. I shoot with a Canon EOS 90D and this image was taken with an 85mm lens at f/5.6, 1/640, ISO 640.
Congratulations! on a beautiful image Lisa. Look for Lisa’s image soon in the Daily Courier.

As we looked through the ‘”Idea Jar” more than a couple suggestions about using flash came up so we decided we will do another round. Squeaky wheels get the grease.
This round we’ll concentrate on simple scenarios for using fill flash, on and off camera. There are many ways to use fill flash to improve your photos. We’ll have time to play during the second half so bring your flash to experiment. Don’t forget to charge your batteries. The concepts and the thinking will be helpful even if you don’t have a flash. Maybe you’ll think about getting one..? Photographers are always talking about light – this will give you some ideas about how to enhance what’s there with your flash and how to use it creatively. Yours in Ed, Susan and Larry
