April 3rd is Education Night – Fix My Pics!

April 3rd is Education Night – Fix My Pics!

One of the things we will do for Aprils education meeting is take the same photo and have everyone process it in their own unique way. There are four images you can download and work on. They are straight out of the camera DNG files which you can edit in Photoshop and Lightroom. There are also JPEG versions if you prefer those. You can do one image or all four, whatever you like.

Be as creative or normal as you like. We will bring these images (jpegs) to the April education meeting and share and learn from each others processing techniques. Best if you can send to Russ just as if you were sending in an electronic image for competition. Please don’t be intimidated by this. We are all here to learn and grow, so lets do that!

Any questions, contact me.

May I Cut Your Steak    Dale George

“May I cut your steak” was a lazy weekend idea that started when I wanted to test out a new backdrop support rod system my wife purchased for me. The shot was set up in our garage and was fairly straight forward. I left one door open about 6 inches just so I could see, and used 2 strobes at about 90 degrees off to the sides and at floor level. Shot is handheld using a Canon 5DMKIV, Canon 100mm macro lens. Camera settings were ISO 6400 at 1/25 sec and f/7.1.

Umpqua Gem    Ross Steensland

This photo was taken over Cow Creek just West of Riddle Oregon as it enters the canyon on March 16th. I was there to explore the area and was not expecting much of a sunset since it was fairly overcast, but a pink glow lit up the West end of the canyon.
Canon 6D mkII, Canon 24-70mm f2.8, B+W CPL.
Foreground- 30 sec, iso 50, f14, 25mm
Sky- bracketed at 2.5 sec, iso 50, f14, 25mm

Golden Snow    Ross Steensland

This photo was taken on the top of Boomer Hill road just North of Myrtle Creek on Feb 21st.  I drove up with the intention of taking some portrait photos of Beth, but found the snow to be too deep and bitter cold. Seeing signs of a good sunset and finding a beautiful snowy field with snow capped trees, I knew I needed to wait for sunset there.
Canon 6D mkII, Canon 24-70mm f2.8, B+W CPL.  Image bracketed.
30 sec, iso 160, f11, 24mm
