Cuernos Glow

This photograph was taken in mid-March, 2020, in Torres Del Paine National Park, in Chilean Patagonia. It was the day of our much anticipated arrival at the park, after two weeks exploring wine country, and the lakes district in Chile. My husband and I had spent many hours in our rental car, driving to the park, and were eager to get out, hike, and photograph this amazing place. This hike especially had been recommended to us because the famously fierce Patagonian winds were NOT blowing on this particular afternoon. I shot this photo as we finished our hike and the evening glow lit up the wall next to Los Cuernos (The Horns). I saw these mountains several more times in our remaining four days in the park, but this was the most beautiful view. Unfortunately, we had to cut our trip short by a day as the park closed due to measures to control the spread of corona virus. Canon 7D. 24-70 Canon lens at 33m, ISO 400, f9.5, 1/125

April 15th Online Competition

Just in case you missed it in your email here’s Dave’s email explaining our April competition !

Hi Camera Club Members;

 The Caveman Camera Club Board has decided to hold an on-line judging and competition for April.
 
The judging will be held via ZOOM software.  The judging and critiquing will be recorded on the software and will be posted on the Club website, and also possibly on Facebook. The judging will happen on Wednesday, April 15 at 7:00 pm.
 

Because it will be difficult to do prints, this month’s competition will be electronic only.  You will be allowed to submit up to three images.

 
As your projectionist, I am responsible for collecting the photos you submit, and putting them together for the competition.  I hope many members decide to participate.  We are looking forward to this opportunity to continue honing our photographic skills during these difficult times of isolation.
 
 
HERE IS INFORMATION YOU WILL NEED TO KNOW TO ENTER IMAGES IN THE ELECTRONIC COMPETITION:
 
1. You can enter up to three images.  They can all be open category, or all in the assigned category, or you can enter in each category.
 
2. The assigned category for April is “Color on Color – only one color in different shades”.  See Club website for more information: competitions
 
3. The image must be in the jpg format.  Color space should be “sRGB”
 
4. The maximum pixel dimension is 1400 horizontal by 1050 vertical.
 
5. The image file size must not be larger than 2 megabytes.
 
6. Each image submitted must be properly named as shown here.  CAVE is the proper abbreviation for the Club.  Do not use CCC.
 
This is the file naming format:  FirstnameLastname_CAVE_TitleofImage.jpg
Example 1: JohnDoe_CAVE_PrettyFlower.jpg
Example 2: JaneSmith_CAVE_SeaScape.jpg
 
7. Email the photos to David Church <davidchurch412@gmail.com>
 
8. In your email, be sure to identify whether the image(s) are in the “Open” or “Assigned” category.
 
9. Member annual dues must be paid in order to compete.

I  thought it would be fun to post a few images from the recent field trip that Ozzie led to Whisky Creek.  Everyone took separate cars, kept their distance and from the look of things enjoyed themselves a lot!
