Education Meeting is Wed. March 17th – OUTSIDE

Wednesday, March 17th will be our next education meeting. It will be a light painting field trip with Dale George as the teacher/instructor.
We will meet at Reinhart Volunteer Park (also known as All Sports Park) at 7 pm. When you go into the park take your first left. Just go to the end of the very long parking lot and you are there.
As much as I don’t want to say this, I gotta…Observe social distancing and wear your facial covering. I want all members to attend. I cannot and would not attempt to enforce this, do what you’re going to do, but please be respectful of others.
Bring camera, tripod, remote shutter (not absolutely necessary), fully charged battery, warm clothes, maybe a headlamp to see your camera dials.
Daylight savings time will be in effect so it won’t be getting dark until 7:30 or so.
Let’s get out of the house and have some fun.

Two First Places

My Scrambled Brain     Rose Christner

This is light painting with different tools you can make or buy.  I used my large (10 lb) lens ball on a mirror. Then I used 48.2 sec to shoot all the different colors around the ball. Canon EOS R on a tripod at F16, 48.2 sec with a clicker, ISO 100, 18 mm.

This is really fun and a good exercise to get the feel of what light painting can do. Have fun with it!

The Proposal     Cynthia Briseno

Entitled “The Proposal”. Taken near Brookings,  I had asked the couple if I could take their picture and they said “yes.”  He had just proposed to her so I did some shots and sent them to them.  It was a wonderful day and I took advantage of capturing “their moment.”

Camera was Canon5d mark IV, 70mm lens, ISO 200, F22, 1/40 sec.

First Place

Minimalism     Larry Pollock

“I was looking for the essence of a simple still-life image. Minimalism is one of my favorite things to create. Using 5 studio lights, various light modifiers and some bounce cards, I was able to achieve the look I wanted. I shoot my camera tethered to my laptop so I can see each image in detail as I adjust the lighting to suit. Plenty of test shots to hone in the final image. This image was a 2 image Focus Stack as the top flower was much further away from the camera sensor than the lower part of the vase.”

Camera: Fuji X-T4, 1/250sec f/16, ISO 160
Lights: 3 Godox AD 400s, on AD100, 1 Einstein E640. Wireless trigger
